Drop off in moth numbers

Well tonight's trapping could have been disappointing, as numbers seem to have dropped off even more now (I miss the heady days of summer!), only 26 moths in the trap this morning (although I have lost at least one that was there around 22:00 last night, one of the Sallow species but I didn't record which I think it was barred, but may have been pink barred) however there were 11 species in the trap, including two new ones for me and another new for the garden.

It's strange the weather in the day is almost summer (we are experiencing an Indian summer in the UK it seems) the sun is out, it is hot, as in no coat hot, which is warm for September, and very humid, but over night it cools down fast, and the feeling is much more autumnal. I'm not sure what it is doing to the moths but it makes trapping a weird gamble, I'm not sure what will turn up or if there will be anything in the trap at all, still I guess that is half the fun of an autumn moth trapping session.

I guess you'll want the list now so here it is:

Light Brown Apple Moth  8
Garden Carpet  1
Common Marbled Carpet  3
Large Yellow Underwing  4
Lesser Yellow Underwing  3
Setaceous Hebrew Character  1
Black Rustic  1 NFM
Blair's Shoulder-knot  2 NFM
Large Ranunculus  1
Pale Mottled Willow  1 NFG
The Snout  1

As for the photos well, With new moths I always get a few, and with stunning moths like the Large Ranunculus and the Snout there are a few extra ones, I hope you enjoy them:
