Latest Milton Keynes Moth Trapping

As always I'm behind with my postings, one of these days I'll find time to trap, photograph and blog about the moths in the same day (I just need to cut out work, and my patch walks and Views From an Urban Lake blog lol).

Anyway the last two trappings saw results improving again.

Some nice numbers, there were more around the trap as I checked over night but these are the ones I potted or were there in the morning. The Common Swift (pic below) was a female as she laid a host of eggs in the pot! And the Scalloped Hazel just would not put the wings down for a photo.

18/05/2014 Results


Last nights results were equally good (I did not check the trap after putting it out so may have missed some) and again turned up some new ones. The list has Yellow-Faced Bell which is either Notocelia Cynosbatella or Epiblema cynosbatella depending? But I liked this as an English name I saw.

I also had a couple of days out walking my local patch and turned up two species of day flying moth (well Identified two) a Nettle Moth and quite a few Cauchas Rufimitrella (a cracking little micro).
